Learn How to Get Real Time Stock Quotes into Excel for Free

Getting real time updating stock quote data into excel using Yahoo Finance is easy, that is if you know the right steps to take. You will need Excel on your computer or something that opens excel files for viewing. You will need a connection to the internet for automatic updating of your stock quotes.

To get started the first step is to go to Yahoo.com and then click on left side button Finance. Next enter at least two quotes and click get quotes. After the quotes page comes up click on left tab "Real Time". Next you will need to right mouse click (button on right) on the quote area to the right of your ticker symbol. A window will come up and you select "Export to Microsoft Excel". This will open a page and the quotes will be in the excel file. You need to save the excel file once you get the quote formulas imported.

Once the stock quote formulas are in and the excel file is saved you can set the real time refresh rate within excel and this will get your stock quotes refreshing automatically.

To set the refresh rate you will need to put your mouse pointer over the cell that contains the stock quote, right mouse click. A window will pop up and then select data range properties. That should pop up another window which has a check box for Refresh every, check this box and then set the time you would prefer in between updates.

Once you have this working properly your quote times should update in the increments you set. Don't forget to save all your changes.

For stock trading or day trading the more data you can get and the quicker you get it can make the difference in winning or losing trades.
